ZendayaWith meticulous planning, expert stylists and adventurous clients such as Charlize Theron and Cynthia Erivo to name a few, some of the best hair moments of 2020 have been born already. Yes, we might only be a few months into the new year but trust us when we say that there have been some incredible hairstyles on and off the red carpet already.

Award season welcomed some of the most impressive and experimental looks and we are living for them! Zendaya’s ultralong braids at the Critic’s Choice Awards blew us away, has anyone perfected these yet? Do tell! And wow to Florence Pugh’s swooped, looped and twisted updo, which, along with all the other intricate hairstyles she’s tried, has earned her place as queen of the updo!

Dua Lipa

When it came to the Grammys, no one held back with their beauty and no detail was spared. One of our favourite hairstyles from the night had to be Dua Lipa’s ’90-inspired’ Tendril hairstyle. And to top it all off, Lucy Boynton showed up to the Oscars with pearls stuck to her side part, yes that was actual glue… embellishment anyone? Excuse me while we reach for the glue.

But let’s face it, when it comes to capturing these iconic looks, we’re going to need a lot of time and a personal stylist on call to fix any stray hair. So, after trawling through every red carpet look, here are some looks for you to perfect at home with minimal effort and a few must-have products!

Lucy BoytonPearl Embellished Side Part

Lucy Boyton stuck pearls to her side part, so we went out and stuck pearls to our side part. Okay, so firstly you don’t have the time and secondly, please, please don’t use glue on your hair! Leave that to the professionals! But with some key accessories picked up from Penny’s at Marshes and some Toni & Guy Sea Salt Texturizing Spray from Boots at Marshes, you can totally bring that red carpet glam to Dundalk!

Short Hair Braids

Here’s one for our short hair girls! Okay, so we are completely obsessed with Zendaya’s braid look as well as Natalie Portman’s blunt-but-textured bob! So obsessed that we had to combine them into a gorge loose braid that makes the most of your trimmed tresses! Taking large segments of hair, plait as normal and then ruffle and pull parts of the plait to create that messy look. We recommend ‘L’Oreal Stylista The Sleek Serum’, to tame excessive flyway’s or place in the ends for that extra TLC.

High Pony

Once again, the Queen of the Pony, Ariana, shut down the Grammy’s red carpet with a killer cloud-like look! But, for any knowing eye, it was her signature high pony that stole the show! Ari has inspired a generation with this look and in 2020, the High Pony is no longer a ‘casual’ look.

To achieve this glam look, once again it’s over to favourites Toni & Guy for some 3D Volumiser Spray (Available in Boots at Marshes). This is guaranteed to plump your hair and provide some extra shine! Once you’ve applied and brushed out your hair, style into a loose pony and wrap an extra strand of hair around the hair tie to conceal it! Ta-Dah, now Ariana Grande is jealous of you!

So, there you have it, our top tips for award-winning hairstyles that you don’t need a stylist for! All you need is some inspo, a little bit of know-how and a trip to Marshes for the latest in lotions, potions and hair accessories. And if you haven’t invested in any new hair products of late, please do the necessary.  Good hair can be made great with the right products!  Now, we’re away to drool over more celebrity looks from this year’s award shows, don’t be jealous, we’ll be sure to keep you looped.  If you’re craving more insider style info straight to your inbox then subscribe to our mail list below and don’t forget to follow us on social!
