Hi Guys! It’s Ciara O’Doherty here guest-blogging for Marshes Shopping Centre as part of the Front Row launch! I’m super excited to be teaming up with Marshes for a series of fashion posts sharing my top style tips for the Spring/Summer season ahead.

If you missed my first instalment you can catch that here, but for today’s post, we’re looking at how to wear one amazing key piece three ways.

One of my favourite parts about working in fashion is sharing inspiration for styling key items multiple ways, so you can get more mileage out of your wardrobe. So for this challenge I decided to look at one of my all-time favourite wardrobe-staples……. (drum roll please!)… the tan blazer!

A tan blazer is a classic style that will take you from day to night, and to a multitude of occasions in-between. For this style challenge, we decided to use a gorgeous tan double-breasted blazer we found in River Island in Marshes Shopping Centre which worked perfectly. Here’s how I styled it for three different occasions:

Look 1:  Day-Time Casual

Dress down with your favourite jeans and a teeshirt for casual weekend lunches or shopping with the girls. The blazer keeps the outfit looking smart and tailored, and you can add a belt for definition at the waist, with a classic trench thrown over the shoulders for added warmth.

  • Blazer: River Island
  • Jeans: River Island
  • Teeshirt: River Island
  • Bag: Carraig Donn
  • Belt: H&M
  • Shoes: H&M

Look 2: Night Out Style

For a simple yet stylish night-out look, team a pair of faux leather trousers with a lace cami and cape the blazer over your shoulders for a chic and non-fussy evening jacket. It adds a nice element of structure while also covering arms and shoulders on chilly Spring evenings!

  • Blazer: River Island
  • Trousers: River Island
  • Cami Top: River Island
  • Bag: River Island
  • Shoes: Penney’s
  • Necklace: Carraig Donn

Look 3: Workwear Chic

When we think of workwear we often think of suits and tailoring, but you can also use a great blazer to smarten up an outfit to make it more office-appropriate. For this look, we went for a printed midi dress with a teeshirt underneath for added coverage, belted at the waist to define. It’s not your classic office outfit, but the blazer keeps it looking sharp and chic!

  • Blazer: River Island
  • Dress: Vero Moda
  • Teeshirt: Carraig Donn
  • Bag: H&M
  • Boots: Penney’s

My Top tips when shopping for blazers:

  • Choose a double-breasted style for a more updated look
  • Don’t be afraid to size up for a stylish “borrowed-from-your-boyfriend” fit
  • Opt for a longer length that hits below the waistline to elongate the body
  • Look for added style details like military-style buttons or belt features for an added style update.

So there you have it! Three simple ways to style a classic tan blazer. They are so easy to style, in fact, there’s very little that doesn’t look good with them! I definitely recommend checking out some of the incredible high street brands that Marshes Shopping Centre has to offer, there is so much choice under one roof that you’re sure to find the perfect style for you.

I hope you enjoyed this blog post, and be sure to check out the next instalment which is all about Style Staples under €50!

Lots of love,
Ciara x
