As summer draws to a close and autumn looms in the near distance, it’s time to hang up our sandals and break out our reliable coats n’ boots. As sad as we are to wave goodbye to the long days and sunshine, we’re excited to welcome crunchy leaves, cosy walks and delicious seasonal coffees into the mix. Keep on reading to discover 5 essential AW trends to follow in 2021.
Knits, Knits, Knits
As the chilly weather looms on the horizon, now’s the time to break the shackles on our winter wardrobes. Namely knitwear! Currently trending: pastel hues and the longer, the better. A floor-length knit jumper dress might sound wrong, but it looks and feels so right. To enmesh two trends in one, try layering your favourite knitwear over maxi skirts or textured/printed dresses.
Statement Eveningwear
Think big, bright and sparkly! After so much time spent at home over the last 18 months, now’s the time to go out with a bang – literally. Despite the approaching autumn season, it’s time to show a little skin and a lot-a sparkle – sequins are going to be big this year folks, you heard it here first… Bonus points if you wear yours with a healthy dose of “I’m OWNING this outfit!” Hell yes, honey.
Monochrome Silhouettes
And no, we don’t just mean black and white. We’re thinking colour blocking in every colour of the rainbow; scarlet, fuchsia, chartreuse… You get the gist. Monosyllabic is the vibe for AW21, and we don’t see it disappearing any time soon. If you can match in your shoes n’ accessories to your colour theme, even better. And if not, it’s always an excuse to go shopping…
Puffa Perfection
A downright necessity for broaching winters in Ireland. We’re sure you all have a great selection of coats to see you through the season, but 2021’s essential is the classic puffa. Cool, edgy, versatile and comfortable, it’ll see you through in style for years to come. Grab yours in a statement hue to add some spice to your AW21 line-up.
Fabulous Florals
You hardly ever hear of florals for any time other than spring (thank The Devil Wears Prada for that one!), but this year, they’re dominating for autumn and winter ’21. Outerwear in particular, if you can believe it! Think statement overcoats, blazers, even a printed bomber jacket if you can get your hands on one. The perfect way to uplift a basic outfit from muted to large and in charge. If you’re not big into statement florals, start small with a scarf, bag or a chunky printed boot.
Until next time,
